Rachel Youn is one of the artists whose work is included in the Gallery 210 Exhibition Exposure 20: Safe Space, running August 24-December 7. This exhibition is part of the UMSL community’s Inclusive Excellence Project initiative and will examine differing meanings and uses of the term “safe space.” Youn, who received a BFA from Washington University in 2017, works with sculpture and video to deconstruct hierarchal narratives associated with material, domestic spaces and architectural design. This art work points to the fluidity and instability of race, gender, and culture.
