Every year on February 1st, Muslim women who wear the hijab are honored as part of World Hijab Day. On this day, women of all backgrounds and religions are encouraged to try on a hijab and experience what it feels like to wear one. Muslim women who wear the hijab uphold their modesty. Although Muslim women are only required to cover their heads when they are with males who are not members of their immediate family, many others do so nevertheless to support cultural unity.. . . . We want our UMSL community to join us on February 1st at the MSC bridge to celebrate the Muslim women and learn more about the importance of the hijab!
